Why I write and What 2

The Continuing Adventures of Falstaff Wild

Oh, good grief! I wish someone would buy my house!  Why?  Because I want to get on with my writing!  I can’t settle down to type; well not anything substantial, not while I’ve got to market my house instead of my book!

The Estate agents will tell us that the market is healthy and house prices are going up!  Not so, down by 33% since I purchased the house 8 years ago.  I’ll have no equity to live on, being diagnosed with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis – with no cause identified I’ve been living hand to mouth for too long.

Writing is not a choice for me, Its a living I choose to put my life into! So why am I promoting another ‘Free Week’ on Smashwords? The Call of the Thunder Dragon – Smashwords .

Why I write and What!

I didn’t become an Author to pamper to a niche or standard.  I write about history where I find it, in context.  I do not write for any specific age group or audience.  I learnt more by picking up challenging books than I did by following the well-trodden path; I would not want to be forced to lower the bar for young readers, or to present a watered down – less insightful presentation of events.

Clearing Kindle Quality Flags Take Two

Michael J Wormald Publishing

Well, 24hrs after Uploading a new version, which is now online – Quality flag is still up. Hardly fair considering the effort?

What plans do Amazon have to control quality? Flags should be logged should be against versions uploaded – at least then we have a chance of finding the error in the version flagged?

email KDP

As you can see the spelling errors are genuine typos – and not referring any slang, or words in other languages etc.

…Then came the distintive light pad of Zam’s light feet returning….
…After a pause he heard the return of rustling footsteps passing him by, while he shivvered waiting in a cold sweat….
…But there wasno sign of the girl….

These were corrected and none ignored.  The Amazon email shows that I’ve had no other typos ignored deliberately or otherwise.

I am now waiting for the flags to clear, or for Kindle Direct Publishing…

Kindle Clearing Quality Flags?

Getting it right! Free of Typos

Michael J Wormald Publishing

The first step after publishing is often clearing up formatting and other quality issues.

Then comes spelling. We now have quality alerts against the books in the store view.

However we don’t get a quality manage ‘Tab’ in the KDP bookshelf.

Now and then when I’m uploading I get alerts for typo, which I almost always correct immediately. most times I get 0 (zero) spelling errors despite having slang and several different languages in the text!

I think we need more consistency from the KDP spell check – how can we have zero errors on upload and then have a quality alert against our book when someone flags a typo? Who is right? This inconsistency is a quality issue itself!

How do we clear that publicly visible TYPO alert. I’ve corrected issues found upload, found more myself, upload – but the quality flag never clears after upload?!

How do we…
